healthdirect service launches new look website

healthdirect (Opens in new tab), managed by Healthdirect Australia on behalf of its Australian government shareholders, today launched a new look website providing people with a much better user experience in their search for trusted health information and advice. 

healthdirect provides 24/7 access to health professionals and health information via a nurse triage helpline and a range of online services, to help Australians make more informed health decisions.

From today, visitors to the website will be able to find the information they need in a more efficient manner, with a responsive design to better serve the smartphone and tablet audience, who are now the majority of users. More than 4 million visits, accounting for 50 per cent of all visits, are made using mobile devices.

Other improvements include:

• A simplified, more interactive homepage, to better direct people to the service finder tool (Opens in new tab), the healthdirect Symptom Checker (Opens in new tab) and relevant health articles.
• A simplified right hand column which will show articles related to what people have searched for across most pages.
• Information and resources from Information Partners now appear higher on article pages to direct people to relevant information from expert sources.
• Improved search results so the healthdirect medicines (Opens in new tab) catalogue content, the service finder tool and the healthdirect Symptom Checker appear in the results listings along with articles.
• Improved use of imagery to make the site more user friendly and visually appealing.

The healthdirect website receives an average of 135,000 visits each week from people searching for health information.
