National Health Services Directory widget: easy to embed, easier to maintain

Launched in 2012, the Directory is a comprehensive, national directory of health services and the practitioners that provide them. The Directory is a key piece of national digital health infrastructure, built and maintained by Healthdirect Australia.

The Directory widget has been designed to provide the public with a quick, convenient way of accessing reliable information about Australian health services 24/7, via an embeddable web interface. The widget allows users to search the Directory dataset of more than 300,000 service providers and health practitioner records — including general practices, pharmacies, emergency departments, hospitals and many more, while presenting this information in a user-friendly interface.

Useability of the widget

The widget has been built using responsive design principles so that it auto-adjusts to suit the device it is being displayed on (desktop/tablet/mobile device). It includes a range of easily customisable features that enable seamless integration with information partner websites.

The widget offers a simplified integration approach using a small code snippet that has been designed to easily be deployed to any webpage or mobile app.
